Zoomlion Ghana Limited donates towards 2011 GJA awards



 Zoomlion Ghana Limited last Thursday presented a cheque of GHc 3,000 to the National Executive Committee of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) towards the 16th Edition of GJA Awards.

Miss Patricia Ofori Atta, Communications Officer of Zoomlion Ghana Limited who presented the cheque on behalf of the company said Zoomlion Ghana Limited is happy to partner GJA in rewarding excellence in journalism and appealed to the media to continue to support the company in its aggressive drive toward waste management and environmental sanitation.


She also added that since the inception of Zoomlion Ghana Limited five years ago, the company has embarked upon countless programmes all towards the eradication of filth in the country.

The recent call for a radical change in the attitude of Ghanaians by Zoomlion in the public education campaign is very laudable and brings to mind once more, the yawning problem that the country has to grapple with.

According to Miss Ofori Atta, the Company remains committed towards fighting waste in the country since one of the main pillars of millennium development goal (MGD) touches on sanitation.

“Many people are ignorant about the implications of littering our environment, Zoomlion and some of our media are also contributing effectively to educating the general public about the effects of littering” she added.

She commended members of GJA for consistently providing platform for the recognition of outstanding performance in journalism and assured them of the Company’s continuous support.


She appealed to journalists to remain objective, factual and fair in their reportage, while at the same time being critical on issues of national interest.


The General Secretary of GJA, Mr. Bright Blewu who received the cheque on behalf of the association, expressed his association’s appreciation to the company for the gesture.


Touching on the theme for this year’s award; “Giving Impetuous to Democracy & Development; the role of Investigative Journalism”, Mr. Blewu explained that it was strategically chosen to show the media’s commitment to the growth of democracy in Ghana.

“It is our hope the theme would remind us constantly of the need to be rigidly professional in our work” he said.


Officials of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the ace waste management company in Ghana    has held a press briefing in the Eastern Regional Capital of Koforidua to interact with the media in that region share ideas and seek their collaboration and support in keeping Ghana clean Green and Healthy.

The meeting was also to brief the media in Koforidua on the activities of the company, since its inception over five years ago.

A communications officer of the company, Mr.Solomon Agyeman Duah  in a presentation said Zoomlion has opened branches in other African countries such as Liberia, Angola Togo and Zambia.

He said the country is now directing its attentions towards Equatorial Guinea and is establishing a branch there.
